Welcome to Simply Shaley

I’m so glad you are here! In this blog you will find my journey of decorating our new home. I’ll be sharing the real and honest process- the wins, the struggles. and everything in between. My goal is to help you avoid the same mistakes and save you from the hassle I went through- the dreaded returns and disappointments. Believe me when I say this, our local Mail Carrier knows me by name and no, it’s not because I live in a small town.

Along the way I’ll include some of my favorite inspirations and sprinkle in pictures from my own home. It’s important to me to show you real-life photos, not edited, staged ones- so you can see how these pieces actually look in an ordinary home and make educated and informative decisions on your purchases.

Whether it’s a beautiful lamp for soft lighting, a decorative bowl for keys (after all it’s REAL life here) or vase with stem arrangements you can change out for the seasons. These small touches create a welcoming moment and set the tone for the rest of the house. So, find some inspiration and decorate in a way that makes you happy.

Let’s talk entryway tables- It’s the first thing someone sees when they walk in your home. What’s the first feeling you want someone to have when they walk in? Take into consideration the size of the area. For me personally, I knew I had a pretty large wall space to fill. Here, you will see my entry way with a fairly large piece from Pottery Barn, which I absolutely love. But now to style it.
